How does a flushing porta potty work?
A flushing porta potty uses a foot pedal to rinse the bowl with clean water from a fresh-water tank. Nothing connects to a hose or an outlet. The same unit has a sink inside with a foot pump, soap and paper towels, so guests can wash without walking to a separate station.
Waste still goes into a 60-gallon holding tank, the same size as a standard unit. The flush keeps the bowl clean and cuts down on odor during a hot afternoon.
Is a deluxe porta potty with a sink bigger than a standard unit?
A deluxe porta potty is only a little bigger: 47 inches wide versus 43.5 inches for a standard unit, and 1 inch deeper. Inside, guests get about 4.5 more inches of width. The deluxe unit weighs about 243 pounds empty, so it needs a gate at least about 4.5 feet wide.

How do the flush and sink tanks get refilled?
We fill the fresh-water tank before the deluxe unit leaves the yard, so the unit arrives ready to flush. One fill covers a typical 1-day party. For a 2-day event or a large crowd, add a service visit between days to refill the water, pump the holding tank and restock soap and towels.
Monthly deluxe units get water refilled at each weekly service. Do not refill the tank from a garden hose yourself; tell us if the water runs low and we schedule a visit.

When is a standard unit enough, and when do you need the deluxe?
A standard unit is enough for most job sites and short backyard parties. Pick the deluxe flushing unit for 3 kinds of events: food is served, guests are dressed up, or older guests will use the restroom. For a heavy-use crew of 10 or more, a standard unit plus a hand-wash station holds up better.

When is a restroom trailer better than deluxe units?
A restroom trailer beats deluxe units when the event runs 5 hours or more, guests number 100 or more, or the setting is formal. Trailers have flushing china toilets, lighting and A/C. Deluxe units win when the spot has no 110V outlet within about 100 feet or no level ground for a trailer.

Is the sink inside or outside the unit?
The sink is inside the deluxe unit, next to the seat. Guests pump water with a foot pedal and use soap and paper towels from the wall dispensers. If you want a sink outside where people can wash without using the toilet, add a hand-wash station.
Is the deluxe bigger than the standard?
The deluxe unit is 47 inches wide and 48 inches deep. The standard is 43.5 inches wide and 47 inches deep. Both stand 91 inches tall, so the deluxe feels a bit roomier but takes about the same yard space.
Does a flushing porta potty need a water hookup?
A flushing porta potty needs no hose and no outlet. The flush and sink run off a fresh-water tank that we fill before delivery.
Does the flushing unit smell less?
The flush rinses the bowl after each use, so guests do not look at waste and the smell stays lower. The unit also gets deodorizer before delivery. On a hot day with heavy use, add a service visit.
