Porta Potty Rental Questions, Answered

Every porta potty rental question we hear, answered in plain words: when it arrives, where it goes, what it costs, how cleaning and billing work, and what happens in a storm. Need a fast answer? Call (228) 261-9696.

Delivery and timing questions

Most porta potty orders arrive the next business day, Monday through Saturday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Event units are dropped the day before and picked up the next business day at no extra charge. The driver calls or texts about 30 minutes ahead, and you do not need to be home.

When's the earliest you could get it here?

Most orders arrive the next business day. Call (228) 261-9696 by 11 a.m., Monday through Saturday, and Gulfport and most of Harrison County can get a unit the same day. See same-day porta potty delivery for how rush orders work.

Can you tell me approximately what time they'll drop it off? I need to plan my day.

Deliveries run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and we can't promise an exact minute because each truck runs a route. You can request a morning window. The driver calls or texts about 30 minutes before arriving.

Can you guarantee it'll be there by 7 or 8 in the morning?

We promise the delivery day, not an exact time. Ask for a morning window when you book. For an early crew start or a morning event, take the day-before drop so the unit is already standing when people arrive.

Can the driver call me before they come?

The driver calls or texts about 30 minutes before arriving. Give us the best number, plus a second contact if you might be hard to reach that day.

Do I have to be there when you deliver? I can't take off work.

Nobody has to be on site. Mark the spot with a cone, flag or ribbon, or text us a photo or map pin of where the unit should stand. The placement guide shows what a good spot looks like.

Do you deliver on Saturdays or Sundays?

Deliveries and pickups run Monday through Saturday. There is no Sunday delivery. A unit for a Sunday event arrives Saturday and is picked up Monday, at no extra charge.

My event is Saturday. Can you bring it Saturday morning and pick it up Sunday?

Event units are dropped the day before, so a Saturday party gets its unit on Friday. Pickup is the next business day, which is Monday. The early drop and later pickup are part of the event rental price.

Is there an extra charge for dropping it off early or leaving it over the weekend?

The day-before drop and next-business-day pickup cost nothing extra. The event price covers up to 7 days, so a full weekend fits inside it.

How far ahead do I need to book?

Next business day is the standard lead time. Holiday weekends, Cruisin' the Coast week, Mardi Gras and spring and fall wedding weekends book up, so reserve porta potties 1–2 weeks ahead and restroom trailers 3–4 weeks ahead.

Same-day porta potty questions

Same-day delivery is available in Gulfport and most of Harrison County when you call by 11 a.m., Monday through Saturday. Farther towns get a unit the same day when a truck is routed nearby, otherwise the next day. A rush fee of about $50–$100 may apply and shows on the quote first.

Can you get one out today? Our event starts at 5.

Call (228) 261-9696 by 11 a.m. and same-day delivery is available in Gulfport and most of Harrison County. Tell us the start time, and we tell you on the call whether a truck can make it.

Is it too late to get one for tomorrow?

Tomorrow is our standard lead time, so a next-day order is normal. Call before 7 p.m. to get on the route (Saturday calls deliver Monday). Holiday weekends and big event weeks fill early, so call as soon as you know.

Our toilet supplier didn't show up. Can you deliver today?

Same-day delivery covers this. Call by 11 a.m. with the site address and crew size, and the unit can be set the same day in Gulfport and most of Harrison County. We can then keep it on weekly job-site service.

How much is the rush fee for same day?

When a rush fee applies, it typically runs about $50–$100. The fee is printed on your quote before you book, so you can decide first. Next-day orders don't carry a rush fee.

I'm out past Hattiesburg or over in Mobile. Can I still get one today?

Farther towns get same-day delivery when a truck is routed nearby. Otherwise the unit arrives the next day. Give us your ZIP and we check that day's routes. Your town is on the service area list.

Where it goes: area and placement questions

We deliver up to about 80 miles from Gulfport. The unit needs firm, level ground, and the truck must park within about 25 feet of it so the hose can reach. A standard unit is 43.5 inches wide, so a backyard spot needs a gate at least about 4 feet wide.

Do you service my area?

We deliver up to about 80 miles from Gulfport: Harrison, Hancock, Jackson, Stone, Pearl River, George, Lamar, Forrest, Perry and Greene counties in Mississippi, plus Mobile County, AL, and St. Tammany and Washington parishes, LA. Check your town on the service area map.

Are you a local company? Who actually brings it out?

Joaquin Portable Toilets Rental is an owner-run business based in Gulfport. Our own trucks deliver, service and pick up every unit, and Joaquin answers most calls himself. Read more about who runs the business.

Where can it go? Are there rules about where it has to sit?

The unit needs firm, level ground, and the truck must park within about 25 feet of it. Note low wires, soft yards and gate codes when you book. The porta potty placement guide covers distances and surfaces.

Can you put it in the backyard?

A backyard works when the gate is at least about 4 feet wide, with room for two people to carry the unit through. The service truck still has to park within about 25 feet, so a spot deep in a large yard may not work.

Can it go on a slope by my driveway?

The unit has to sit level or it can rock and tip. Pick the flattest spot you have, such as the driveway pad or a flat patch of lawn. Tell us about any slope when you book.

Can it go on the sand for a beach event?

Units on sand sit on a leveling pad and get staked against wind. The truck still needs firm ground within about 25 feet. Check the event permit rules before booking a public beach event.

There's a gate code and a locked gate. What do you need?

Give us the gate code, any low wires or parked cars in the way, and a second contact. We add those notes to the order so the driver doesn't have to call you.

We don't have a street address. How do I tell you where?

A ZIP code is enough for a quote. For delivery, text us a map pin or a photo of the spot. Rural lots and job sites without numbers are normal.

Can I move it myself after it's dropped?

Ask us before moving a unit. Moving it yourself is at your own risk, and tipping damage is billed to the renter. The service truck must still reach it within about 25 feet, so call (228) 261-9696 and we can move it for you.

Which unit questions

A standard unit with a seat, urinal and hand sanitizer covers most jobs and parties. Upgrade to a deluxe flushing unit when guests expect a sink, add a 62-inch-wide wheelchair-accessible unit for public events, and choose a restroom trailer when you have a 110V outlet and a garden hose nearby.

What's the cheapest one you have?

The standard porta potty is the lowest-priced unit. For an event it typically runs about $150–$225 with delivery and pickup included. Treat that as a typical range; the itemized quote you approve sets the final price.

Do all of them have the seat and the little urinal?

Every standard unit has a toilet seat and a urinal. Each one also has a hand sanitizer dispenser, toilet paper, a roof vent and a translucent roof that lets in daylight.

Does the standard one have a sink?

The standard unit has a hand sanitizer dispenser, not a sink. For running water, pick a deluxe unit with a sink inside, or add a hand-wash station next to standard units.

Do you have the ones with the hand-washing sink inside?

The deluxe flushing unit has a fresh-water sink inside, with soap and paper towels. It also has a foot-pump flush. The sink sits inside the unit, next to the seat.

Is the deluxe one bigger than the standard?

The deluxe unit is only slightly bigger: 47 × 48 inches against 43.5 × 47 inches for the standard. Both stand 91 inches tall, so the same gates and spots work for both.

Should I get a separate hand-wash station or a unit with a sink?

A separate station lets guests wash without waiting for a toilet. It has 2 sinks and nearly 350 uses per fill, per the manufacturer. When food is served, plan 1 station for every 4 toilets.

Do you have wheelchair-accessible units? What do they look like?

The wheelchair-accessible unit measures 62 × 62 inches, with a 32-inch-wide door and handrails inside. The floor sits at ground level, and there are more than 16 square feet of floor space to turn around.

Does the accessible one have a ramp?

The accessible unit has a ground-level floor, so a wheelchair rolls straight in without a ramp. Set it on firm, level ground with a clear, smooth path to the door.

Do you rent restroom trailers, the nice ones for weddings?

We rent restroom trailers with 2, 3 or 4+ stalls, and some have an accessible stall. Each one has flushing china toilets, sinks, mirrors, lighting, A/C and heat.

What do I need to have for a restroom trailer?

A restroom trailer needs a standard 110V, 20-amp outlet within about 100 feet and a garden-hose water connection. We can bring a fresh-water tank on request. The trailer also needs a level spot.

How many toilets do we need for the number of people coming?

Plan 1 unit per 50 guests for up to 4 hours, 1 per 40 for 4–8 hours, and 1 per 30 per day for longer events. Add 1 unit for each full 100 guests when alcohol is served. The porta potty calculator does the math.

I just don't want everyone tramping through my house. Will one be enough for about 30 people?

One unit covers 30 guests for an event of up to 8 hours. If alcohol is served, our sizing method adds 1 more unit, so plan on 2. For an all-day party, ask about a second unit.

Cleaning and servicing questions

Monthly and job-site rentals get weekly service: pump-out, cleaning and sanitizing, fresh toilet paper and sanitizer, and new deodorizer. Event units arrive clean and fully stocked but are not cleaned mid-rental unless you add a service visit, which is worth it for events running 2 or more days.

How often do you come service it?

Monthly and job-site units are serviced once a week. That is 4 visits in a 28-day cycle. Large crews can add extra visits. See long-term rentals for how the cycle works.

What does the service include?

Each visit includes a full pump-out, cleaning and sanitizing, fresh toilet paper and hand sanitizer, and new deodorizer. The unit is left ready for another week.

Do event units get cleaned during the rental?

Event units arrive clean and fully stocked, but no cleaning happens mid-rental unless you add a service visit. Extra visits are available for multi-day events and festivals.

Will it smell?

Each unit has deodorizer in the tank and a roof vent. Heat speeds up odor, so summer events over 8 hours should add a service visit. Read how to keep units fresh in Gulf Coast heat.

Price and payment questions

Typical ranges: a standard event unit about $150–$225, a deluxe unit with sink about $225–$325, and a monthly job-site unit about $165–$225 per 28 days with weekly service. Every quote is itemized with unit, days, delivery, pickup, servicing, any rush fee and tax. Your itemized quote is the final price.

How much is it to rent a porta potty for a party?

Typical event ranges: standard unit about $150–$225, deluxe flushing unit with sink about $225–$325, wheelchair-accessible unit about $200–$300 and hand-wash station about $100–$175. Delivery and pickup are included. See the porta potty cost guide; your itemized quote is the final price.

Can you give me a rough price with just my ZIP?

A ZIP code, dates, unit type and how many units is all we need to price it. The quote form asks for a ZIP and a phone number, not your name or home address.

So what's the total, all in?

Your quote lists every line: unit, rental length, delivery, pickup, servicing, any rush fee and tax. The bottom line is the total you pay. There is no fuel surcharge. Charges only change if you change the order (extra service, a second trip after a blocked delivery, or a cancellation inside 24 hours), and we tell you first.

Is tax included, or is that extra?

Sales tax appears as its own line on the itemized quote, and the total includes it. Tax-exempt groups can send their certificate to have tax removed.

How much is a restroom trailer for a weekend?

A restroom trailer typically runs about $1,200–$3,500 for a weekend, depending on stall count and distance. Trailers are priced by the event, not by the day. Your itemized quote is the final price.

What's your monthly rate?

A standard unit on a monthly job-site rental typically runs about $165–$225 per 28-day cycle. Weekly pump-out, cleaning and restocking are included. Your itemized quote is the final price.

Is there a discount for three or more units?

Multi-unit orders pay one delivery charge, not one per unit, so the price per unit drops as the order grows. Ask for a quote with your full count.

What kind of payment do you take?

We take all major credit and debit cards. Approved businesses can be invoiced instead of paying by card.

We're tax-exempt. Can you take the tax off?

Send your tax-exempt certificate to info@gulfportportapotty.com before delivery, and we remove sales tax from the quote. Churches, schools and agencies use this often.

Can you email a formal quote? Our board has to approve it.

We can email the itemized quote to you or to whoever pays, such as a sponsor, board or office manager. The quote lists every charge, so it can be approved as written.

Do you rent by the hour? I only need it for a few hours.

Rentals are not priced by the hour. A 3-hour party pays the same flat event price as a 3-day rental, because delivery, pickup and cleaning cost the same.

Rental length and billing questions

Event rentals are a flat price for up to 7 days. Monthly rentals bill every 28 days from the delivery day, include weekly service and keep running until you call for pickup. Call at least 2 business days before a cycle ends to stop billing. There is no long contract.

I need it for about a month, until my septic is fixed. How does billing work?

Monthly billing starts on the delivery day and repeats every 28 days until you call for pickup. Each cycle includes weekly service. Full details are on the monthly rental page.

If I only keep it 2 weeks, am I charged for the full month?

A monthly rental bills in 28-day cycles, so 2 weeks counts as one cycle. For a job of 7 days or less, the flat event price is usually the better fit.

What if I need it longer? Can I extend?

Monthly rentals renew on their own every 28 days, so there is nothing to extend. For an event rental, call before the scheduled pickup and we quote the extra days.

Is there a contract?

There is no long contract. Monthly rentals run cycle to cycle, and you end one by calling for pickup.

Why is the first bill more than the next ones?

Delivery is charged on the first bill, and pickup on the last. The cycles in between cover only the rental and weekly service.

Can it go under our company name and be billed to our office?

The quote and invoice can be under your company name, with a billing contact who differs from the site contact. Approved businesses can pay by invoice.

Pickup, change and cancellation questions

Event units are picked up the next business day on their own. Monthly units stay until you call, at least 2 business days before the 28-day cycle ends. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before scheduled delivery, and you can change the date, add units or swap unit types before delivery.

Do I have to call for pickup, or will they just come get it?

Event units are picked up the next business day without a call. Monthly units stay until you call (228) 261-9696, at least 2 business days before the 28-day cycle ends, or the next cycle bills.

Can you pick it up the same night after my party?

Event units are picked up the next business day, and that is included in the price. Leaving the unit overnight is normal. Lock the door with our free lock if the spot is open to the public.

What's your cancellation policy? Is there a refund if I cancel?

Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before scheduled delivery. Call (228) 261-9696 to cancel. The full policy is in the rental terms.

Can I book now and change the date later?

You can book now and call to move the date. Call at least 24 hours before the original delivery, and we move the order to the new day if a truck is open.

Can I add another unit if more people RSVP?

Call with the new guest count and we add units if they are available for your date. Adding a unit to an order that is already on the route keeps one delivery charge.

Event and party questions

Most parties need 1 standard unit per 50 guests for up to 4 hours, more for longer events or when alcohol is served. Add a hand-wash station when food is served and at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit for public events. Event units arrive the day before and leave the next business day.

I'm having a party this weekend. What do I need?

Tell us the guest count, hours and whether food or alcohol is served. That sets the number of toilets, hand-wash stations and accessible units. The event rental page walks through it.

It's just for a few hours. Why does it cost that much?

The price covers two truck trips, a clean and stocked unit, pumping and disposal of the waste, and up to 7 days on site. Those costs are the same for 3 hours or 3 days.

Do I need a permit for porta potties at my event?

Public events on city property usually need a permit, and the City of Gulfport application asks how many portable toilets and accessible units you will have. The event restroom permit guide covers nearby cities.

Can you service all the units between days of a multi-day event?

Extra service visits can be added between event days. Each visit pumps, cleans and restocks every unit. Book the visit with the rental so the truck is scheduled.

Should I get a restroom trailer or nicer porta potties for a wedding?

A restroom trailer suits weddings with power and water nearby. Deluxe flushing units work where there is no outlet or hose. The wedding restroom guide compares both by guest count.

Construction and job site questions

OSHA sets the legal minimum at 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers and 1 seat plus 1 urinal per 40 workers above that. Our recommendation is 1 unit per 10 workers on a 40-hour week with weekly service. Job-site units bill every 28 days with no long contract.

How many toilets does OSHA require on my job site?

OSHA 1926.51 requires 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers, and 1 seat plus 1 urinal per 40 workers for 20 or more. For a 40-hour week with weekly service, we recommend 1 unit per 10 workers. See construction porta potty rental.

We're switching from our current porta potty company. Can you take over?

Give us the date your current provider picks up, and we deliver that day so the site is never without a toilet. Weekly service starts from our delivery date.

Does my crew need a hand-wash station too?

OSHA 1926.51(f) requires washing facilities where crews work with paints, coatings or other harmful materials. A hand-wash station with 2 foot-pump sinks covers that.

Do the toilets on a construction site have to be wheelchair accessible?

Units used only by the construction crew don't have to be accessible under the 2010 ADA Standards, section 203.2. Units open to the public, such as at a sales office, should include an accessible unit.

Home, remodel and septic questions

For a home remodel or septic repair, a rental of 7 days or less uses the flat event price, and anything longer bills every 28 days with weekly cleaning. Same-day delivery is available when you call by 11 a.m. The unit usually goes on the driveway, within 25 feet of where the truck parks.

We're redoing our only bathroom. Can we rent one for a week or a month?

A week or less fits the flat event price, which covers up to 7 days. Longer jobs switch to a 28-day cycle with weekly cleaning. Read renting for a remodel or septic repair.

Our septic collapsed and we have no toilet. How fast can I get one?

Call (228) 261-9696 by 11 a.m. and a unit can arrive the same day in Gulfport and most of Harrison County. It can stay on a monthly rental with weekly cleaning until the septic is fixed.

Where should it go at my house so it isn't in the way?

Most homeowners use the side of the driveway. The spot needs to be level, within about 25 feet of where the truck parks, and clear of low wires.

Can you pump out my RV or camper holding tank while the septic is down?

Pump-out service for RV and holding tanks is available on request. Call (228) 261-9696 with the tank size and location for a price.

Damage, lock and vandalism questions

A free lock or hasp is available on request for any unit. The renter is responsible for damage beyond normal use, such as tipping, fire or vandalism, while normal wear is on us. For units left in parks or open lots overnight, a lock and a visible spot cut down on 2 common problems: misuse and tipping.

Does the event one come with a lock? It'll sit in a public park overnight.

A lock or hasp is free on request. Ask when you book and the unit arrives with it. Leave the key where the driver can reach it for pickup.

Who's responsible if it gets damaged or tipped over?

The renter is responsible for damage beyond normal use, such as tipping, fire or vandalism. Normal wear is on us. The rental terms explain how damage is handled.

What if someone breaks in or vandalizes it overnight?

Vandalism during the rental is the renter's responsibility. A free lock protects the inside, and a well-lit spot near the activity helps. Call us right away if the unit is damaged so it can be swapped or serviced.

Storm and hurricane questions

Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30. When a named storm threatens the Coast, we contact customers to pick up or tie down their units. After the storm passes, we bring units back for cleanup crews. Units on windy beach sites are staked or anchored when they are set.

What happens to my unit if a hurricane is coming?

When a named storm threatens, we contact you to pick up or tie down the unit. After the storm, we bring units back. The hurricane-season rental plan covers what to do.

Can you bring toilets for our storm cleanup crew?

After a storm we bring units back out for cleanup crews. Call (228) 261-9696 with the crew size and site, and ask about same-day delivery.

Will it blow over in the wind?

Units on windy beach sites are staked or anchored when they are set. For a named storm, we pick up or tie down units instead of leaving them standing.
