Do you need porta potties for an event permit in Gulfport?

A City of Gulfport public event permit requires restroom facilities unless you can show enough ADA and non-ADA restrooms in the immediate area, open to the public during the event. The application asks for 2 numbers: total portable toilets and how many are accessible. Your site plan must show where they go.

Read the requirement on the City of Gulfport Public Event Permit Application. The same form asks for a cleanup plan and dumpsters for every 400 people. It does not list a filing deadline, so ask the Office of Special Events early.

This guide summarizes published forms. It is not legal advice. The permit office decides what your event needs.

What do Gulf Coast cities require for event restrooms?

Gulf Coast cities set 3 kinds of restroom rules: whether units are required, how far ahead to apply, and what the form asks. Lead times run from 30 days in Hattiesburg to 120 days for the largest Biloxi events. The table below lists 8 offices and links each official form.

Summary of each office's published form or page as of October 2026. Forms change; the office's current version wins.

Can you rent porta potties for an event on Ocean Springs city property?

Events on Ocean Springs city property must use the city's contracted restroom vendor, Waste Pro, under the city's permit rules. Our units are not an option there. We do serve Ocean Springs private property: backyard parties, weddings at private venues, church events and construction sites, with applications due 60 days ahead for permitted events.

The rule and the $75 permit fee ($25 for nonprofits) are on the Ocean Springs special event permit page.

Do you need a permit to put porta potties on the beach?

Events on the Harrison County sand beach use a separate $25 Beach Event application. It needs a Sheriff signature and County approval, and it asks for attendee count and crowd control. The form does not list restroom counts, so confirm unit placement on the sand with the Sand Beach Department before you book.

Find the form through the Harrison County Sand Beach Department. On sand, we set each unit on a leveling pad and stake it against wind. The truck still needs firm ground within about 25 feet. See the placement guide before beach delivery.

Do you need a permit for porta potties at a private party?

A private party on your own property usually needs no restroom permit. Units at a house, church lot or private venue are a private rental. A permit can come into play when the event closes a street, sells tickets, or spills onto public land. Confirm with your city before the event.

Size a private party with the porta potty calculator, then see event porta potty rental for unit choices.

Need a restroom count for your permit?

Call with your guest count and event hours. We give you unit numbers and setup and pickup times for the form.

What should you have ready before you file the permit?

Have 5 restroom items ready before you file: the total unit count, the accessible unit count, unit spots on your site plan, delivery and pickup times, and the restroom company's name and phone. Biloxi's form asks for setup and pickup times. Gulfport's asks for the accessible count.

  1. Count unitsUse our event method or the count your permit office prints. Write down the total toilets and hand-wash stations.
  2. Count accessible unitsPlan at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit in each cluster, and at least 5% of the units in it.
  3. Mark the site planDraw each restroom cluster, keeping 20-ft emergency lanes clear on Gulfport plans. Put units on firm ground the truck can reach.
  4. Set delivery and pickup timesEvent units arrive the day before and leave the next business day. Ask us for the planned times in writing.
  5. List your vendorBusiness name Joaquin Portable Toilets Rental, phone (228) 261-9696.

Mobile, AL prints its own count chart, shown here for reference:

Event permit restroom questions

Does the city tell me how many porta potties to bring?

Most Gulf Coast forms ask how many you will bring rather than setting a number. Mobile, AL is the exception: its guide prints a chart and requires 1 ADA unit per 20 standard units. Use our calculator, then confirm the count with the permit office.

What do I put on the permit form for the restroom company?

List Joaquin Portable Toilets Rental, phone (228) 261-9696, the number of toilets, the number of wheelchair-accessible units, and delivery and pickup times. Ask for your itemized quote by email and attach it if the office wants proof.

How far ahead should I book porta potties for a permitted event?

Book units once the permit is filed. Pass Christian wants applications 90 days out and Biloxi up to 120 days for large events. Busy weekends like Cruisin' the Coast and Mardi Gras need units reserved 1–2 weeks ahead and trailers 3–4 weeks ahead.

Can I just use the bathrooms in a nearby building?

Gulfport, Biloxi and Ocean Springs allow that only if you can show enough ADA and non-ADA restrooms nearby, open to the public for the whole event. The permit office decides if they are enough. Portable units remove that question.

Do I need a permit to have a porta potty at my house for a remodel?

A porta potty on your own lot for a remodel or septic repair usually needs no restroom permit. Some neighborhoods with HOA rules ask that units sit out of street view. Check with your city or HOA if unsure. See our monthly rental options for remodels.

Will you deliver to a Biloxi event that has a city permit?
